Leading UK motorsport communication and sponsorship agency, MPA Commercial (MPA) is delighted to have worked with the FIA World Endurance Championship, Motorsport Network and Nielsen Sports to project manage the world’s largest-ever study on endurance racing among global motorsport fans.

This work builds on MPA’s extensive previous expertise in conducting global motorsport fan studies in Formula 1. MPA has now project managed the six largest fan insight studies ever conducted in motorsport.

MPA worked closely with the world’s #1 motorsport media company and long-standing client Motorsport Network and the world’s leading research company Nielsen Sports to deliver the project on behalf of the FIA WEC and ACO, the promoter of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the world’s leading endurance racing championship.

Conducted in 10 languages, and hosted on a global web-based platform the study recorded feedback and opinion from over 54,000 fans worldwide over the 3-week fieldwork period. Preliminary results were shared by the FIA WEC last weekend at the final race of the 2017 season – the 6 Hours of Bahrain.

MPA planned, managed and coordinated all elements of the programme from concept to results delivery including questionnaire design & testing, multi-lingual digital, social & print media promotion, editorial content releases, daily reporting, data collation and results interpretation and reporting.

The programme was project managed and delivered within budget in 14 weeks from concept approval to results presentation, inclusive of 3 weeks of survey fieldwork.

In summarising up the work provided by MPA, Gérard Neveu, FIA WEC CEO said:

From the outset Motorsport Network brought together a team of expert global partners, notably MPA, to provide us with the largest, most comprehensive and insightful fan feedback in the history of endurance racing. They worked with our team, and those from Motorsport, Autosport and Nielsen Sports to deliver a world-class study on time, on budget and with minimal fuss – it has been a great example of teamwork, collaboration and execution. We are delighted with the results of our work together.”

Charles Bradley, Global Editor in Chief at Motorsport Network commented:

We continue to work with MPA on a number of industry projects; they bring a unique set of skills to our business – the technical skills to create robust, authoritative questionnaires, creative skills to harness the power of our media to drive response, an understanding of the value and strengths of compelling editorial content and above all, excellent project management skills to bring multiple partners together focused on a clear, unified and deliverable goal. They make the very best use of our assets for the benefit of global rights holders. We wouldn’t think of conducting a global research project without them.”

The full findings of the 2017 WEC Global Fan Study will be made available shortly through the FIA WEC.
